Happy Rotter is back to the drudgery of mining after an exciting encounter with the Stilosopher’s Phone the previous week. But his second fortnight at the institution known as Warthogs is rife with fresh torments, including an aggressive mining supervisor, Professor Snake; a new cook called Kathy Cook who won’t stop talking about her grammy; and the mysterious gravel harvester, Looney Mooney.

These seem minor when the real trouble begins, and someone – or something – starts stealing Warthogs students’ cheeks. Could it be Codra Foulmouth, ever loyal to headmaster Rumbledoor? Could it be Mrs. Solace, the kindly custodian? Or could it be the one everyone at Warthogs suspects the most… Happy Rotter himself!
